Explore the stars and planets! Planetarium shows you over 1,500 stars - that's every star up to magnitude "+5". These stars are the brightest in the night sky, the ones you can see with your own naked eye on a good dark night away from city lights. TO START THE APP: Once the app is installed, open a new tab in Google Chrome and you should see a grid of icons, one of which is the Planetarium app. Click the icon to open the app - it should only take a few seconds to load. HOW TO USE: Click and move your mouse to look around the sky. Click again to stop. Point at a star or planet to reveal its name, its constellation, its brightness (magnitude) and how far away it is in light years (LY) or astronomical units (AU). Also listed is the star or planet's Right Ascension (RA) and Declination (Dec) values - handy if you have a telescope! You can also adjust the time and your viewing location to see the sky from any point around the world. Use these shortcut keys to control the sky too: Hide/show constellations – C Hide/show sky daylight – S Adjust year – Y or shift+Y Adjust month – M or shift+M Adjust day – D or shift+D Adjust hour – H or shift+H Adjust minute – N or shift+N Adjust latitude – L or shift+L Adjust longitude – K or shift+K Also, use the arrow keys ←↑↓→ on the keyboard to move around the sky.
